This short screenplay was written following a commission Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust as part of their 2020 Black History Month Programme with a focus on ‘The Impact of Racism’.
The screenplay is in the form of a PSA showing the true experiences of British Black and other locally defined minority groups as the navigate systemic racism on a daily basis.
The PSA film is ideally presented in a workshop environment and is situated within a historical background so that the participants have an opportunity to discuss the lived experiences of Black people and see what the impact of racism is for some individuals.
There is the opportunity to discuss the effect that racism has on people’s mental health, and to engage in further discussions and move towards making structural and behavioural changes.
